Founded in 1925 by Don Tomas Mapúa, an architecture graduate of Cornell University, Mapúa University is the Philippines’ premier engineering and technological school. It is globally recognized, ranking in the Top 501-550 in the 2021 QS Asia University Rankings. Mapúa offers excellence in various fields, including engineering, sciences, architecture, design, information technology, communication, media studies, social sciences, education, accountancy, and business management.

Mapúa's undergraduate programs have received recognition from local and international accreditation bodies. It is the first school in Southeast Asia accredited by ABET, offering 11 engineering programs and 3 computing programs accredited by ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission and Computing Accreditation Commission, respectively.
