Founded in 1925 by Don Tomas Mapúa, an architecture graduate of Cornell University, Mapúa University is the Philippines’ premier engineering and technological school. It is globally recognized, ranking in the Top 501-550 in the 2021 QS Asia University Rankings. Mapúa offers excellence in various fields, including engineering, sciences, architecture, design, information technology, communication, media studies, social sciences, education, accountancy, and business management.
Mapúa's undergraduate programs have received recognition from local and international accreditation bodies. It is the first school in Southeast Asia accredited by ABET, offering 11 engineering programs and 3 computing programs accredited by ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission and Computing Accreditation Commission, respectively. The University has also been named a Center of Excellence by the Philippines' Commission on Higher Education in several engineering and information technology programs.

The Builder: The silhouette of the Builder, which was the main element of the older institutional logo, serves as the continuity of the tradition of excellence that the University has been known for. It also represents every Mapúan, taught and trained to help build the nation and the world.
Binary code (0s and 1s): The Binary code, which is inscribed in the Builder, spells the word "excellence," the value that is characteristic of every Mapúan; a quality reflected in all his works.
miR-941 gene (A, C, G, & T): Also inscribed in the Builder is the partial sequence of the miR-941 gene that is unique to human beings.
Pixels: The pixels in red, yellow, gray, and silver symbolize the University's thrust of harnessing the digital technology in the advancement of education and improvement of life.
Globe: The Builder rests his left hand on a globe, representing the University's engagement in globalization.
Greek Ionic Column: The Greek ionic column symbolizes the University's endless pursuit of wisdom. The Greeks would often put the ionic column on libraries and justice halls, that represent learning, wisdom, and justice.
